Habitat: Freshwater ponds, pine-oak forest

From the top: Pitch pines and various oaks; American holly (Ilex opaca); sweet fern (Comptonia peregrina); unknown seedheads from the pond shore; mottled leaf; tree stump in frozen Munn’s Pond; sheep laurel (Kalmia angustifolia).

    I was glad to be able to pick out at least one plant…yay for holly! :) I definitely like this series, hope you keep it up.

      Thanks! The plants are definitely harder for me to recognize without leaves… Those cheerful evergreens make things much easier! ;)
